Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Web Application Developer Intern to join our development team. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in enterprise web application development using Java or .NET technologies and cloud platforms. The intern will work closely with our developers on real business applications and learn modern software development practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing web applications using Java Spring Boot or .NET Core frameworks
- Support the creation of RESTful APIs and web services
- Help implement front-end components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Participate in cloud deployment activities on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Assist with database queries and basic schema design
- Contribute to automated testing and quality assurance processes
- Participate in code reviews and learn best practices
- Help troubleshoot and debug application issues
- Support documentation and technical writing tasks
- Collaborate with team members on feature development
- Learn and apply software development lifecycle practices
- Assist with performance testing and optimization tasks
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Basic understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
- Familiarity with either Java or C#/.NET fundamentals
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Understanding of database concepts and SQL basics
- Exposure to web development principles and HTTP protocols
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Self-motivated with ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Must be local to Worcester, MA area for occasional in-office meetings
- Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for remote work
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or projects involving Java Spring Boot or .NET Core
- Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with version control systems (Git/GitHub)
- Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js)
- Understanding of RESTful API concepts
- Knowledge of software development tools and IDEs (IntelliJ, Visual Studio, VS Code)
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
- Basic understanding of agile development methodologies
- Portfolio of academic or personal programming projects
- Familiarity with containerization concepts (Docker basics)
