Web Developer Intern

Location: Worcester, MA area (Hybrid - Remote with occasional in-office meetings)
Type: Part-time Internship (Unpaid)
Duration: Summer 2025 or Fall 2025 semester

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Web Developer Intern to join our development team. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in website development using Content Management Systems (CMS). The intern will work on client websites and internal projects, focusing primarily on WordPress development and other popular CMS platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain client websites using WordPress and other CMS platforms
  • Customize WordPress themes and create child themes
  • Install, configure, and customize WordPress plugins
  • Build custom websites using page builders (Elementor, Divi, Gutenberg)
  • Perform website updates, backups, and security maintenance
  • Optimize websites for speed, SEO, and mobile responsiveness
  • Migrate websites between hosting platforms and domains
  • Troubleshoot CMS-related issues and conflicts
  • Assist with e-commerce site development using WooCommerce or similar platforms
  • Support content entry and website administration tasks
  • Test websites across different browsers and devices
  • Collaborate with design team to implement custom layouts and features

 

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Marketing, or related field
  • Basic understanding of WordPress or other CMS platforms
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic web design principles
  • Understanding of responsive web design and mobile optimization
  • Experience with web hosting, domains, and FTP
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Must be local to Worcester, MA area for occasional in-office meetings
  • Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for remote word

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with WordPress development, themes, and plugins
  • Familiarity with popular page builders (Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder)
  • Knowledge of WooCommerce for e-commerce development
  • Experience with other CMS platforms (Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, Drupal)
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and Google Analytics
  • Basic PHP knowledge for WordPress customization
  • Experience with cPanel, hosting management, and domain administration
  • Knowledge of website security and performance optimization
  • Portfolio of CMS-based websites or projects
  • Understanding of UX/UI design principles
